Why Teaching?
I teach because I believe every student deserves to know they belong and have a say in their education. Music is not simply a subject, it is an art and an outlet. The only way to truly learn is through joy, and I aspire to inspire my students in this way.
Teaching Philosophy
Students come to lessons for a wide variety of reasons whether that be for musicality, technique, introduction to new styles/music, building confidence, or just for fun. My job as a teacher is to support students in reaching their goals and help them grow musically and personally. I like to start with a foundation of technique so my students learn to practice and perform in a healthy manner. I also enjoy including repertoire that excites my students. I believe music is more worthwhile when you enjoy what you are doing. Teaching is a collaborative art, and I work to give students life-long tools that will help them succeed in a kind, warm, and creative environment.
