About Me

Ms. Taylor is a student at Oakland University majoring in Music Education and minoring in Psychology. For most of her life, she studied piano and started clarinet in beginning band. She marched baritone at Flat Rock High School, where she graduated. She is also a sales manager at Anderson Music Co. and hopes to start her own organization that distributes instruments to kids in need! She loves volunteering at community events and being outdoors during all parts of the year. Ms. Taylor loves challenging herself with new instruments and finding fun ways to practice new music. The next instrument she wants to learn is drums!

Music education goes beyond learning notes and rhythms. It is a vital part of a student’s overall development. Music teaches discipline, persistence, and attention to detail while also supporting cognitive and emotional growth. It creates community, fosters connection, builds cultural understanding, and gives students a sense of belonging. My goal is to create an environment where every student feels capable of success. Music should be both structured and joyful, and students learn music by doing: playing, listening, creating, and reflecting.

Teaching Philosophy

Music and arts education is a vital core of education for human development, social learning is the best learning, music is the universal language, and music is food for the soul. When I’m teaching, I feel like I am teaching others not only how to make music but how to feed their own souls, and helping students grow into awesome mini people.
