About Me

Vivian fell in love with the violin over a decade ago when she first heard Joshua Bell on the radio. Before college she played in the Oakland Youth Orchestras (OYO) and was an active part of Oakland Homeschool Music (OHMI), playing in their Symphony orchestra, singing in their choirs, and playing in the pit for six musicals. Vivian currently attends Oakland University, where she is studying to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education.

My aim as a teacher is to help students unlock the story within the notes. I believe that proper technique is highly important, but music is much more. I will give students the freedom to choose pieces that they’d like to play and then guide them to learn the skills and musicality needed to succeed.

Teaching Philosophy

I teach to share the joy that music brings and to help others find that joy themselves. Music is transformative, and being able to play it helps in many other areas of life. I also teach because I love to!
